". . . Day by day, minute by minute, second by second we went from where we were to where we are now. Time never stands still; it must steadily march on, and with the marching comes the changes. . . The tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleanded surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will - to your surprise - miss them profoundly. . . Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey. . . For one day each of us will run out of tomorrows." -Pres. Thomas S. Monson

The Real Story of Summer BBQ's. . .

I found this on my friends blog and had to share as well because it is hysterical!

BBQ RULES

We are about to enter the summer and BBQ season. Therefore, it is important to refresh your memory on the etiquette of this sublime outdoor cooking activity, as it's the only type of cooking a 'real' man will do, probably because there is an element of danger involved. When a man volunteers to do the BBQ the following chain of events are put into motion:
Routine. . .

(1) The woman buys the food.

(2) The woman makes the salad, prepares the vegetables, and makes dessert.

(3) The woman prepares the meat for cooking, places it on a tray along with the necessary cooking utensils and sauces, and takes it to the man who is lounging beside the grill - drink in hand.
Here comes the important part. . .

(4) THE MAN PLACES THE MEAT ON THE GRILL.
More routine...

(5) The woman goes inside to organize the plates and cutlery.

(6) The woman comes out to tell the man that the meat is burning. He thanks her and asks if she will bring another drink while he deals with the situation.
Important again:

(7) THE MAN TAKES THE MEAT OFF THE GRILL AND HANDS IT TO THE WOMAN.More routine...

(8) The woman prepares the plates, salad, bread, utensils, napkins, sauces, and brings them to the table.

(9) After eating, the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most important of all:

(10) Everyone praises the MAN and thanks HIM for his cooking efforts.

Then,

(11) The man asks the woman how she enjoyed 'her night off.' And, upon seeing her annoyed reaction, concludes that there's just no pleasing some women.

Jess,
I went to your sisters blog and couldn't figure out how to add these. I e-mailed them to Suz and have asked her to forward them to you but thought I would also try and find some where here to leave. I just don't know how these blog things work yet (sorry).

No Bake Mini Cheesecakes

1 pkg. (8 oz.) Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 (8 oz) tube Cool Whip, defrosted
12 Oreo cookies

Beat cream cheese and sugar until blended. Gently stir in whip topping.
Place cookies in bottom of 12 paper lined muffin cups
Spoon cream cheese mixture into muffin cups. Top with sprinkles. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Éclair Dessert

2 pkgs. (6 serving size) Jello Instant Vanilla Pudding
5 cups milk
12 oz. Cool Whip, defrosted
1 box graham crackers
1 can chocolate frosting

Mix vanilla pudding with milk until smooth. Fold in defrosted Cool Whip. Set aside. Spray a 9 x 13 pna with cooking spray. Lay graham crackers in a single layer into pan. Using serrated knife to cut crackers to fit. Spoon half of the pudding mixture over graham crackers. Place a single layer of grahm crackers on top of pudding mixture, pour remaining pudding onto crackers. Place a layer of graham crackers on top of the pudding. Making sure that crackers go all of the way to the edge of the pan.

Place frosting in micorwave for 20 seconds, stir and heat for 20 to 30 seconds longer or until frosting is melted. Pour the melted frosting over the graham crackers. Use a spood or spatula to completely cover and seal the graham crackers.

Refrigerate for at least 12 hours. Best if refrigerated 24 hours before serving. Cut and serve.

NOTE: I've also seen this recipe where instead of melting the chocolate frosting you just spread it on top of the last layer of graham crackers right before serving.

Turtle Dessert

17 ice cream sandwiches
1 (12.25 oz jar) carmel topping
1 1/4 cups toasted pecans
1 (12 oz) container Cool Whip, defrosted
3/4 cup hot fudge topping, heated

Place 1/2 your ice cream sandwhiches in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Spread evenly with carmel topping and sprinkle with 1 cup pecans. Top with 2 cups whipped topping and remaining ice cream sandwiches. Spread remaining whip topping evenly over sandwiches. Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup pecans. Cover and freeze at least 2 hours. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Drizzle with fudge topping and cut into squares.

NOTE: I think ice cream sandwiches have shrunk or something, because it always seems to take more of them when I make this. Good thing, I buy the big box with about 36 or so in it. Besides the kids like the left over sandwiches.
